SPORTING KANSAS CITY

In 2010, the Kansas City Wizards new ownership announced that the team would be renamed as part of a rebranding effort and in conjunction with the construction of a new stadium.

Challenge:


The team was near the bottom of the MLS league in average attendance, season ticket sales and merchandise revenue.

Solution:


We created a fresh, new attitude and brand identity for the team that transformed them from a milk toast, family event to a highly-competitive, “European” fan-based experience.

​

Results:


Since the rebrand, Sporting Kansas City has become one of the most successful teams in the MLS.

​

  • Season ticket sales grew from 600 to 11,000 annually (+1733%)

​

  • Annual merchandise sales increased from $30,000 to over $1,000,000 annually (+3233%)
